How to raise a pile on a carpet

Heavy objects can crush the fibers of a thick carpet. The longer heavy objects are pressed into it, the deeper the damage will be. In most cases, you can raise the fibers and smooth the mark. To prevent deep dents in the future, move heavy objects lightly every week and place rollers under the furniture legs to distribute the weight more proportionally.

How to raise pile on a natural carpet in simple ways

  1. Work your fingers on the fibers to maximize them. Fluff them with the edge of a coin or spoon or use a small, stiff brush if your carpet is strong enough to clean.
  2. Fill a bottle with water. Spray water on the carpet to moisten it.
  3. Dry the wet carpet with a hairdryer at high temperature. Keep the hair dryer a few inches away from it so as not to damage the fibers.
  4. Separate the fibers and beat until they return to their original shape. Repeat the process if necessary.

How to raise a pile on a synthetic carpet

  1. Fluff the fibers with your fingers or a coin, spoon or brush. Wet the towel with hot water, then wring it out so that it is wet. Put a towel on the recess in the carpet.
  2. Turn the iron on to a medium level. Hold the iron a few centimeters above the towel for 30-60 seconds. Set the iron aside, then remove the towel.
  3. Again, fluff the wrinkled carpet with your fingers or a coin, spoon or brush. If the fibers do not return to normal, reapply a towel and iron on them for another 30-60 seconds and try again.

Warning: Do not touch a hot iron directly on your carpet, because it can burn or melt the fibers.
