How to check the monitor matrix

The main component in the TV or monitor is the matrix. It is she who is responsible for the image quality, as well as for the brightness, contrast and clarity of the picture. In order for the device to work as long as possible, and its parameters were the best, when choosing a monitor, first of all, attention should be paid to the matrix.

What is a matrix and what is it responsible for

The matrix is the main and most important part of the monitor. It is on it that the image is formed, and its quality depends on the matrix. It is also the most expensive component in the device. It is often cheaper for a user to buy a new device than to replace this particular component.

In order to check this element, you should first disassemble the case. The easiest test for the health of this component is to connect the multimeter to a special loop on the board. This will check the operability of the contacts and the presence of power between the elements.

REFERENCE! Checking the health of the components will allow you to find a malfunction or exclude working components.

If each component is supplied with sufficient voltage and no malfunctions are detected, there may be a problem in the decoder. In order to verify this, an additional energy source should be soldered to the power input. After that, turn on the monitor in "test mode". If bands or distortions are observed in this mode, then the matrix is faulty. In the opposite case, if the test mode showed the correct image, the problem may be a violation of the integrity of the contacts or the loop.

Key matrix malfunctions

Often this is damage to the surface with LCD crystals. In this case, the image is distorted, and the screen "flows". In this case, the best solution is either to replace this component, or to replace the entire device as a whole.

The screen does not light up. There are two reasons for this:

  1. Lack of power on the elements. To check this, it is enough to connect a multimeter to all contacts and see the supply voltage.
  2. Inoperative backlight. To exclude this option, just shine the directional light on the monitor. An image will appear at a certain angle. If this does not happen, the malfunction is different.

The image is rippling, stripes are visible. This problem indicates a malfunction in the decoder. If you have sufficient knowledge and skills, you can replace it manually, but it is better to use the help of a competent specialist.
