Simple anti-rust agents on all surfaces.

The fact that to bring rusty divorce, wherever they appear, is not an easy task, everyone who has tried to do this at least once in their life knows. After reading this article, you will learn that there are many ways to cope with this scourge.

How to remove rust mechanically

If we are talking about corroded large metal parts or building structures, then they can be cleaned with emery, grinding machine, grinder with a nozzle or sandblaster.

As you understand, after that, scratches will almost certainly appear, then you will have to spend some more time on grinding. Remember to protect your eyes with glasses and your hands with gloves. It is recommended to use a respirator or gauze bandage.

Folk remedies from rust on any surfaces

You can get rid of rust stains with the help of popular recipes. There are many of them, we give here the most accessible and effective.

Baking soda

Baking soda is a great abrasive. Surely you have repeatedly used it to clean the plate or sink from fat. She is quite fit for our problem. Make a gruel of a creamy consistency with it, dripping some water into it, put it on the problem area, and then use a toothbrush or sponge.

Attention! The stain will disappear, and if not - repeat the treatment until you succeed.

Fish fat

In Soviet times, it could be found in every home, especially where there were small children. It contains today's popular Omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids and other beneficial substances, but for our purpose we don’t need them.

Fish oil is better than other fats, dissolves iron hydroxide, which is composed of malignant rust. Now it is rare to find it put up in jars. Packages with gelatin capsules are more common. They can also be used if the item being cleaned is small and very valuable compared to expensive medicine. Other fats work as well, but there are no competitors for this particular fish.

Acids: acetic, citric, oxalic, hydrochloric

Acetic acid, although not the most preferred for this purpose, is always at hand.

Soak the product in vinegar overnight (you can leave for a day). Rinse with water. If you are not satisfied with the result, repeat again and again until you solve the problem.

Large items that are not completely wetted can be cleaned by putting a rag dipped in vinegar on them. It is necessary to ensure that it does not dry out. Instead of the usual vinegar, you can use apple.

Citric acid copes with the problem better, although it is weaker than acetic acid. For 1 liter of water take 1-3 tablespoons, if you pour more, then nothing bad will happen. If you do not have such an acid in the household, but there is a lemon or lime, you can take them. Cut into slices, crush and throw in water, and then act the same as with vinegar.

Attention! You can try other organic acids (lactic, oxalic, tartaric, etc.) or products containing them (kvass, tea fungus infusion, kefir, yogurt).

Oxalic acid is suitable for our goal as well as possible, just need to remember its toxicity in its pure form. It is widely distributed in the plant world and is found not only in sorrel, but also in tomatoes, rhubarb, spinach and other vegetables.

Hydrochloric acid very well removes rust, for this small parts are immersed in its five percent solution until the spot completely disappears.

Important! After treatment with any acid, and hydrochloric acid in particular, the product must be rinsed in a weak solution of ammonia (two tablespoons per liter of water). You can take one teaspoon of soda instead. If you do not, then you risk damaging the metal, as traces of acids will only accelerate further corrosion. Large parts can be processed with a brush.

If any acid gets into your eyes or on your skin, immediately rinse them with a weak soda solution and then with clean water! It is better to work with gloves and goggles to avoid trouble.

Potatoes

Stains on a baking sheet or kitchenware are easy to remove with potatoes. Large tuber is cut in half, dipped in salt and rubbed on the surface.

Salt acts as an abrasive, and oxalic acid contained in a root vegetable dissolves rust. The same method can be applied to glass or porcelain tableware, but plastic salt can be easily scratched, so you should use another recipe.

Ketchup

It is necessary to squeeze, for example, into the bath, with a thin layer of ketchup, wait four hours - sometimes thirty to forty minutes is enough, then rinse. The secret of the recipe is simple: a lot of the same oxalic acid is used in tomatoes, and for better storage citric acid is also added to ketchup, which only enhances the effect. Read the labels on the packaging and select the most appropriate.

The method is especially useful for bringing knives, forks, spoons and other metal cutlery and accessories into proper form. If there is no ketchup, you can try replacing it with tomato juice.

Foil

Almost everyone who uses a microwave has aluminum foil, so it's worth a try. For our purpose, it should be cut into even squares with a side of about three centimeters and in turn be applied to the problem area, trying to ensure as close contact with the surface as possible. With each piece of foil removed from the spot, you will observe its gradual disappearance.

Alka-Seltzer

Dissolve several tablets in the pelvis and dip the product into the liquid. The solution can be applied with a brush or sponge. The result will surprise you!

How heat treatment helps against rust

On metal rust, you can just burn out with an acetylene torch and then paint it. This method has a drawback: the stains can appear again if such processing is not performed carefully enough, and it is rather difficult to notice the surviving focus of metal corrosion through the flame. After the first flame treatment, carefully inspect everything and try again, or you can use some other method.

Attention! Before lighting the burner, make sure that the metal being processed is not in contact with wood, plastic, rubber and other combustible and low-melting materials, otherwise you risk hopelessly ruining the thing.

There are many other rust removal recipes, for example, a mixture of glycerin with tooth powder, salt with lime juice, vinegar with flour and salt, hydrogen peroxide and ammonia, kerosene, coca-cola and fanta and others.

For especially valuable things (antique coins, for example), craftsmen use electrolysis. It is very effective, but not everyone is able to assemble the installation necessary for this, but if it works, you will not regret. The process is easily controlled, and the result is simply excellent. Try, experiment, share experience with others, because not only you have to fight with this misfortune.

Do not forget to dry, wiping with a napkin or cloth, metal surfaces after any wet treatment. This is especially important if you are going to paint them!
